1. Information you provide
Readers do not need to provide any personal information to browse the site. You may choose to create a Huayu Exchange account. We then process your email and password (stored in hashed form) to sign you in, verify your email and reset your password; your account profile also holds your preferred language. There is currently no comment or newsletter feature.
The editors' content management area also requires an account; that information is used solely for authentication and permissions.
2. Technical and server information
As with most websites, our hosting and security infrastructure may automatically log technical information when handling requests, such as IP address, browser type, request time and pages requested, to deliver the service, fix errors and prevent abuse.
3. Cookies and local storage
The site only uses storage needed for it to work:
• Language preference (browser local storage), to remember whether you chose the Chinese or English edition;
• Sign-in state (browser local storage), to keep you signed in;
• A Watchlist saved in the browser by earlier versions of the site: after you sign in it is merged once into your account and removed from the browser after the save is confirmed.
We do not currently use advertising cookies or cross-site tracking. You can clear this data at any time in your browser settings.
4. Watchlist
When you use the Watchlist while signed in, we store your account together with the identifiers of the assets you save, in your Huayu Exchange account, so it carries across sessions and devices.
The Watchlist only records which assets you follow. It does not itself store holding quantities, transaction history or purchase prices; prices and other market data come from the site's public market data.
Removing an asset from your Watchlist deletes that entry. Only you can see or change your own Watchlist.
4A. Portfolio
Portfolio is a manual tracking tool: you record trades you have already made elsewhere, such as on an exchange or a decentralized platform. Huayu Exchange does not execute any trade you record, Portfolio v1 does not connect to wallets, and it does not currently connect to any exchange account automatically.
When you use Portfolio, we store the following information you enter, linked to your signed-in account: portfolio names, assets, quantities, purchase prices, sale prices, fees, dates and times, and notes. Holdings and value are calculated from these records and the site's public market prices; market prices are not stored separately.
Portfolio data is protected by account access controls: only you can see or change your own portfolios. When an account is deleted, its portfolios and their transactions are deleted with it.
5. Analytics and click tracking
The site does not currently run visitor analytics, behavioural profiling or affiliate click tracking. If we introduce such features, we will update this policy before launch and explain what is collected and why.
6. Third-party and affiliate links
The site links to trading platforms and other third-party websites, some through affiliate links. When you click one you leave the site, and the third party may collect information under its own privacy policy, including parameters that identify the referral. Please read their policies before using their services.
7. Security
We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect the information we handle, including encrypted connections and access controls on the editor area. No internet transmission is completely secure.
8. Retention
Technical logs are kept only as long as needed for operations, security and troubleshooting. Local storage stays on your device until you clear it. Account and Watchlist data are kept while your account exists; when an account is deleted, its Watchlist entries and Portfolio data are deleted with it.
9. Your choices and rights
You can clear browser storage or restrict cookies at any time. Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct or delete personal information; requests can be made once an official contact channel is published.
10. International visitors
The site serves Chinese-speaking and international readers worldwide, and its infrastructure may be located outside your country. By using the site you understand information may be processed abroad.

We will update this policy when our practices change and revise the date on this page.
